Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools and is additional to main school funding. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individuals in their care. The Pupil Premium is allocated to the school and is generated by children;

  •  Who are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).
  • Were or are registered as eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years (FSM6).
  • Who have been or are ‘Looked After’ (LAC).

 A Service Premium is generated by children from Service Families.

How much is it?

The current pupil premium rate is £1,345 per pupil fitting the criteria above for FSM/FSM6 children; £2,345 for Looked After Children and £310 for children from Service Families.

 What should it be used for?

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we are accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils. By publishing online our intended spend for the year and information about how we have used the money, we can ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment/progress of pupils covered by the premium and the extra support they receive.

In making provision for ‘underachieving pupils’ we recognise that not all pupils who receive Free School Meals will be underachieving. We also recognise that not all pupils who are underachieving are registered or qualify for Free School Meals. We will use the Pupil Premium Funding to support any pupils or groups of pupils that we legitimately believe to be underachieving.

If you would like more information or have any queries about how this money is spent please come in and speak to the Headteacher.
